Braga and Guimarães Historical Tour - from Porto
Explore the Birthplace of Portugal and the Religious Heart of Minho in One Day!
Enjoy the scenic landscapes of Minho, a region known for its famous Vinho Verde wine, and visit two of its most historic cities, Guimarães and Braga. This full-day tour offers an in-depth look at the architectural, cultural and religious heritage of northern Portugal.
The first stop is Guimarães, known as the birthplace of Portugal. Its historic city center has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001. During the visit, you will explore the Guimarães Castle, dating back to the 10th century, where you will learn about the early history of the country. You will also admire the Dukes of Bragança Palace and walk through the medieval streets, squares and unique buildings of the city.
The tour then continues to Braga, a city with Roman origins and one of the most important Christian centers in Portugal. Here, you will enjoy a break for a traditional lunch accompanied by Vinho Verde wine. After lunch, the visit continues with some of Braga’s most important landmarks, including the 11th-century Braga Cathedral, the Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary and the Sameiro Sanctuary.
You will return to Porto close to 5:00 PM after a full day dedicated to history, culture and tradition.
