Portugal's Historical Treasures!

A journey through Portugal’s origins, from the birthplace of the nation to the city of archbishops

This guided tour takes you to two of the most important cities in Portuguese history: Guimarães, known as the Birthplace of Portugal, and Braga, the city of archbishops. Throughout the day, you will explore centuries of history, cultural heritage and regional traditions.

The tour begins in Guimarães with a visit to the impressive Dukes of Braganza Palace, a 15th-century residence known for its medieval architecture and richly decorated interiors. You will then visit Guimarães Castle, a 10th-century fortress closely linked to the foundation of Portugal and one of the country’s most iconic landmarks.

After the visits in Guimarães, enjoy a traditional regional lunch, where you can experience the flavours of Minho cuisine.

In the afternoon, the tour continues to Braga, one of the oldest cities in Portugal and an important religious centre. Visit Braga Cathedral (Sé de Braga), the oldest cathedral in the country, followed by a stop at the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its monumental Baroque staircase and panoramic views over the city.

This is a comprehensive cultural tour, ideal for travellers who wish to understand the historical and cultural importance of these two key cities in Northern Portugal.
