This full-day tour explores the heart of Lisbon’s wine region through exclusive visits to two wineries, guided tastings of ten carefully selected wines and a journey through the landscapes, flavours and traditions of the West region.
The first stop is Adega Mãe, located about 40 minutes from Lisbon. The visit begins among the vineyards that stretch across the hills, learning about different grape varieties and their characteristics. The tour continues through the wine production process and ends in the impressive barrel room. The tasting includes six wines: 1 sparkling wine, 1 rosé, 2 reds and 2 whites.
After this first wine experience, the group enjoys lunch at a traditional Portuguese restaurant, specialising in grilled fish. Authentic, fresh and full of flavour, it is often considered one of the best meals of any trip. Average price: 15 to 25 euros per person.
The journey continues to Cheleiros, passing by the monumental National Palace of Mafra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the 18th century by King João V.
In Cheleiros, the second winery reveals the history of this small community and the importance of its wine project. The visit includes an explanation of the production process, a walk through the barrel room and a tasting of six wines (3 reds, 2 whites and 1 rosé). This includes the rare monovarietal Jampal, unique to this village and to Portugal. The tasting is served with bread and olive oil. The visit ends with a short walk through the village and across its medieval bridge built over an ancient Roman structure.
