Guided Tour from Porto to 516 Arouca Bridge and Paiva Walkways

Travel from Porto to one of Portugal’s most impressive natural landscapes and explore the iconic 516 Arouca Bridge and the Paiva Walkways with the guidance of a local expert.

The day begins with a comfortable drive from Porto to the Arouca region, where mountain scenery sets the tone for an unforgettable adventure. In Alvarenga, the guide introduces the Arouca UNESCO Global Geopark and prepares the group for an extraordinary experience.

Crossing the 516 Arouca Bridge is a truly memorable moment. Suspended 175 metres above the Paiva River and stretching 516 metres in length, the bridge offers breathtaking views over the canyon and the Aguieiras Waterfall. For those who prefer not to walk across the bridge, an alternative 4x4 transfer is available at no extra cost.

After the bridge, the walk continues along the Paiva Walkways, a wooden pathway following the river through cliffs, waterfalls and lush vegetation. Along the route, the guide shares insights into the local geology, fauna and flora, adding depth to the experience.

Midway through the walk, there is a well-deserved break at Vau River Beach, a peaceful spot to relax, enjoy a snack and, on warm days, cool off in the river. The trail then follows the river rapids, an area also known for rafting, offering unique views of the Paiva’s wild character.

The experience concludes with a traditional regional lunch (if selected), providing a comforting end to a day filled with nature and adventure before returning to Porto.
